Amerex Fire Extinguishers

You may not know so much about fire extinguishers in general, but you may have heard of Amerex Fire Extinguishers. You may have even seen them on the walls of some store or business establishment. You may even have one in your kitchen just in case your stir fry gets out of hand and sets your stove on fire. When was the last time you were looking at fire extinguishers for sale, though? Chances are, you haven’t done that many times in the past. Fire does not come to the lives of people too often. As a result, people tend to be complacent about the possibility of the occurrence of fire in ones place.

How much do you know about fire extinguisher safety or fire extinguisher training? As you may imagine, a grease fire might be put out better with a different kind of substance than, for instance a paper fire. There are several types of substances used in fire extinguishers today. Amerex Fire Extinguishers make a complete line of just about any kind of model you can think of.

Dry chemical Amerex Fire Extinguishers are filled with a powder-like substance that retards further ignition of the flame by preventing certain chemical reactions within the process concerning the oxygen, fuel, and heat. This extinguishes the flame. This is usually considered the best alternative for Class A, B, or C, fires which include organic solids, such as paper and wood. This also includes flammable or combustible liquids such as petrol, grease and oil fires. Flammable gases are also fought with a dry chemical extinguisher.Foams are another form of contents available in Amerex Fire Extinguishers used to fight fuel fires in an aspirated form to produce an air tight seal of foam, which prevents the needed oxygen from reaching the fuel source. Unlike substances such as powder, this can be used to help put out fires without excessive chance of flashback. Along with paper and wood, this can also be used to fight electrical fires.

Believe it or not, pressurized water is actually used in some extinguishers. This works a lot better than using a bucket or hose because the water comes out with a lot more force allowing you to more accurately douse the flame. One of the downsides however, is that this is best when only used for wood or paper fires. Furthermore, Amerex Fire Extinguisher has its different fire extinguisher types.  Amerex Fire Extinguishers also make models filled with wet chemicals and water additives. These work much like foam by creating an airtight seal over the flame to put it out. These are generally suggested for wood and paper fires as well as cooking fat and some oil fires.

Clean agents are yet another form, though not as common. Halon extinguishers use a gaseous agent that inhibits the chemical reaction of the fire. Banned from new production, except for military, these are somewhat rare.
